Chapter 13
In the days leading up to Kirby's anniversary party, Kirby spent nearly the entire time with Magolor. He would show up on the Lor Starcutter's deck just in time for lunch, and the friendly alien would gladly offer the pink hero to eat with him. After that, the two of them would go straight back to the theme park. Kirby would run through the challenge stages, with Magolor waiting at the end to tally his points, and give him shiny medals based on his performance.
"I want to try again!" Kirby would often exclaim. "I think I can get platinum this time!"
"I know you can do it, Kirby!" Magolor would often reply. And sometimes, he was

Magolor subconsciously sniffed the air. Scents reached past his snug belted scarf to his nose, the familiar scents of bedsheets and clean metals. The quiet buzzing of the Lor's internal processes reached his concealed ears, and he felt the sensation of cozy warmth all around him. These things gently ushered him out of his sleep as delicately as the great hands of a benevolent being, causing his eyes to slowly blink open, viewing the waking world in their topaz glow. A yawn forced itself out of his mouth, unseen, yet heard, and his detached hands reached out past the pastel covers, stretching up over his hooded head.

After a good night of rest had passed, the bright sun rose up over the vast desert, baking its sands to prepare for another day of blistering heat and dry air. Not that Magolor noticed, since he kept himself inside the Lor, and the Lor kept its interior shielded from the effects of the weather around it, creating its usual, optimally comfortable conditions for its pilot. As the sun was continuing to make its route to its apex in the clear sky, an almost black dot zoomed along on pointed wings, spiraling down to a landing on the deck of the Starcutter. The ship welcomed the guest by opening a hatch automatically for the masked acqu

When next day lazed itself over Dream Land, Meta Knight returned like clockwork, and the two resumed training right away. Meta Knight worked Magolor even harder than before, punishing failure with stern scoldings and whaps against the wizard's head with the flat of his sword. Magolor took it all with the same determination he'd been maintaining, but he did think to question the sudden change in the knight's method.
"Are you working me this hard because we're doing this in the Lor instead of out in that cave?" He asked respectfully.
"No," Meta Knight answered. "I'm working you this hard because I want you to get better."

Magolor spent the rest of the day and much of the night reconfiguring his drafts. He made a chaotic slathering of new lines, circles, and X marks, then getting new papers and redrawing over them. One of his stages was crumpled up into a neatly compact ball between his gloved hands, and completely reworked from scratch. And were it not for a stern beeping emitting out of the Lor's walls, he might have skipped dinner in his energized planning.
"Everything Kirby does in these challenge stages, he's going to need to apply to these races!" He excitedly explained to the Lor as he munched on a synthetic burger, circling around in the coc

The next day, Magolor woke up famished, thirsty, and layered with an unpleasant film of sand-meshed sweat. But these things didn't bother him as he bounced out of bed triumphant, feeling invigorated and accomplished, as if having scaled a mountain, now opened to the sight of the world at its tallest peaks. There were possibilities to be had, dreams to be conquered, and he felt ready to take on all challenges.
After a brisk shower, hearty breakfast, and a pitcher of clear water made delightfully frigid with crystalline ice, Magolor floated his way into the cockpit, as fresh and new as a butterfly freed of its cocoon. He shimmied ar

After lunch, Meta Knight left the Lor Starcutter to retrieve its mast while Magolor pinned himself up in his little work room, drawing up several new blueprints. By the time Meta Knight returned, carrying the light-weight bubble containing the ship's mast, Magolor was printing out his completed drafts of some new stages, different from the ones he made before in a special way. With a simple toss, the mast lifted out of Meta Knight's hands and floated over to its post, fusing back into place with a blinding sparkle of white light. The Lor alerted Magolor, both to the mast being back in place, and to Meta Knight's presence. The littl

For a few moments, Magolor floated in place, stunned and staring at the blue knight. Meta Knight stared right back, arms folded under his cape, unmoving apart from scant winds that occasionally tugged at his ultramarine fabric.
After a time of passing silence, Magolor was the first one to speak up.
"Meta Knight...what are you doing here?" He asked cautiously.
This was followed by another moment of silence, with the knight's eyes piercing through his mask as if calculating every facet of Magolor's pose and words.
"Well," he started calmly. "You didn't think I was going to let you off after what you did to the Halberd, did you?"

Magolor ended up sleeping all night, and well into the next day. It was mid-afternoon before he finally rose, and the Lor Starcutter had migrated over to a different region of Popstar in the meantime. It was now standing high up in the sky, drifting among some particularly fluffy clouds near a very tall structure with a chestnut checker print from its base to about its middle, then becoming a purple and gray checker print from the middle all the way to its top, which seemingly reached just under where the sky broke away into space. This was the Nutty something-or-other tower, Magolor couldn't remember the proper name of the buildin
